Stormy weather on Jupiter

Giant storms whirl in the turbulent atmosphere on the southern hemisphere of Jupiter in this image captured by the visible-light JunoCam camera on board of NASA’s Juno spacecraft. The enhanced image showing the stormy weather on the largest planet of the solar system was captured during Juno’s 32nd close pass by the gas giant. Results from Juno’s nearly five years of exploration of Jupiter have been discussed recently at the European Geosciences Union conference in Vienna, Austria. Images from JunoCam are available to scientists and amateurs alike. — Tereza Pultarova
