BIZARRE footage appears to show a giant flying saucer emerge during a powerful lightning storm.

Filmed in the US, the mysterious YouTube video has proved a sensation among UFO watchers and ET enthusiasts.

The fascinating clip shows a huge disc appear among dark stormy clouds which remains in the sky for around 30 seconds.

Amazingly, the disc appears to light up the surrounding area before disappearing.

Critics have blasted the footage claiming it uses CGI to fake the alleged UFO sighting.

The unusual video has been viewed nearly 65,000 times since being uploaded to YouTube.

The filmmaker behind the footage, who did not confirm where in the US he shot it, described the moment he saw the alleged alien craft.

They said: “It’s not clear whether the UFO got hit by the lightning strike or whether it was using the lightning for its energy.

“After the lightning strike, the UFO becomes visible for 30 seconds and illuminates the sky and the surrounding area.

“Then a second lightning strike is heard and the UFO disappears.

“When the UFO disappears the area turns dark again.”

The filmmaker added: “Did the UFO open up a portal in order to travel to another dimension?”

Despite criticism of the video online, many YouTube users are convinced by the footage’s authenticity.

One said: “Amazing footage. I’m not surprised the person filming was shaking so much when it became visible.”

Another added: “If I saw that I’d be shaking, too.”

But other users were not convinced.

One wrote: “I think this is CGI. The sky is the give away. The video seems to cut out for a split second when it disappears.”
